On July 7^th 2023, ASHRAE published its pioneering consensus-based, code enforceable standard, developed to reduce the risk of infectious aerosol transmission in buildings, ASHRAE Standard 241, Control of Infectious Aerosols.

The Proceedings of the conference "IAQ 2020: Indoor Environmental Quality Performance Approaches Transitioning from IAQ to IEQ”, organized by ASHRAE and AIVC are now available on AIRBASE, including 110 papers and 16 extended abstracts. 

The conference was held in Athens, Greece on 4-6 May 2022 and it was also the 41^st AIVC - 9^th TightVent & 7^th venticool conference.

On May 15^th, 2023 ASHRAE announced the completion of the first draft of its standard for maintaining healthy indoor air quality (IAQ), with final approval expected in June and publishing anticipated in July.

On December 7, 2022 ASHRAE’s board of directors announced its commitment to support the expedited development of a national indoor air quality (IAQ) pathogen mitigation standard. The goal is to finalize the consensus-based, code enforceable standard within six months.

The AIVC is inviting you to register for the webinar "Sleeping Environment IAQ and Sleep Quality" to be held on January 12^th, 2023 (10:00 - 11:30 CET).  Participation is free for all, but prior registration is required.

Programme (CET)

In March 2022, ASHRAE released a position document discussing the role of indoor CO₂ in the context of building ventilation and IAQ. The positions address the use of CO₂ as a metric of IAQ and ventilation, the impacts of CO₂ on building occupants, the measurement of CO₂ concentrations, the use of CO₂ to evaluate and control outdoor air ventilation, and the relationship of indoor CO₂ to airborne infectious disease transmission.

On November 20^th 2020, the Air Infiltration and Ventilation Centre  with support from ASHRAE and REHVA organized the webinar “COVID-19 Ventilation related guidance by ASHRAE and REHVA". 406 people from 42 countries attended the webinar.
